FONA’s work is focused around identifying the key strategic opportunities or advantages within a society and finding high quality and innovative solutions to unlock long term benefits for the future. Our soltuions are also grounded in local expertise and resource, leveraging and up-skilling the inherent assets in every community to benefit that community further. FONA currently runs three programs in Nepal, innovative and practical solutions to some of the country’s most pressing problems and greatest strategic opportunities.
EDUCATION
Education is a the core of development, but this needs to be quality, progressive, relevant education, using the right technology and focusing on applied learning. FONA believes there is potential for a school to be a hub that impacts & benefits not just children but the whole local community and economy. Find out more.
HERITAGE REHABILITATION
Historic and cultural assets are of immense value in any society, and in some these assets provide considerable opportunity for tourism and trade, such as in Nepal. Our approach is not simply to restore and conserve buildings and sites, but to use regenerative development principles as a springboard to create new, vibrant economies that bridge tradition and modernity for local people and tourists alike. INFRASTRUCTURE
It is critical that housing destroyed by natural disasters is rebuilt, however we rebuild with a view to improving upon the original structures, not just to protect them, but to provide better, sustainable dwellings, that use local materials in innovative ways.
